Chiefly Speaking
Message from the Chief of Police
It
is an honor to assist the Pasadena Police Officers Association in
welcoming you to this web page. I consider it a privilege to serve
this great City in the capacity of interim Chief of Police and I am
humbled to lead an organization with such dedicated and professional
law enforcement officers.
The Pasadena Police Officers Association (PPOA) has been instrumental
in making this police agency one of the best in the nation. The
Association‘s leadership, along with its general members, have always
provided much needed feedback to the management team. While the
association does not always agree with management, the dialogue that
occurs between these groups is invaluable to making proper decisions
that impact community members and employees.
The Association has a “seat at the table” during various meetings
involving the Chief’s Office and command staff each month. This allows
for open and continuous communication between labor and management,
which allows the Association leadership to provide input on emerging
labor issues and management responses. This type of open communication
has led to the development of many new programs that have benefited
employees and community members alike.
The PPOA has demonstrated a balanced approach to its relationship with
management. I have found them to be outspoken regarding employee’s
rights and needs, along with providing great support for management
when appropriate. It is refreshing to work with the POA Board and its
membership as we both want to provide the citizens of Pasadena with the
best police services possible.
Warm Regards,
CHRISTOPHER O. VICINO
